We were thrilled to be the lead sponsor for the annual Earth Day Expo at this weekend!

This event is put on every year by our friends at and continues to get bigger and bigger. We had a blast talking to folks from around the Flathead about the environmental issues we are facing here at home and beyond as well as some of the alternative energy resources we have at our disposal to make a positive impact.

We are so incredibly grateful to our community for continuing to support us, helping us advocate for political change locally and federally and helping us make alternative energy more accessible to Montanans.

Our community has always shown up to protect our public lands! The reality is if we want our public lands to continue to thrive in the future, renewable energy will need to play a critical role in our future energy production here in Montana.

Our water, winters, and wild places are deeply connected to the choices we make about energy. We are proud to be serving on a panel in Columbia Falls on FRIDAY with Protect Our Winters and MREA for a community meetup on water and energy.

The Legacy Bike Park Energy system consists of 24 REC 420W solar modules, one 15kw Sol-Ark Inverter/charger, and a Discover Rackmount 60 KWHR Battery system. The combination of solar and storage will easily cover the parks day to day energy needs throughout the summer season.

The first phase of the project took place this fall where we spent a few days on site to install the solar modules and inverter. With snow on the way, we decided to wait till spring to add the batteries and commission the system.

We’ve worked on a lot of awesome projects over the years but this one has us especially excited.
About a year and a half ago, we reached out to the crew at Legacy Bike Park and offered to write them a REAP (Rural Energy For America Program) Grant as they were a perfect candidate to receive funding. At the time, the 50% grant program (now 25%) was, and still is, available to rural small businesses and agricultural producers. This combined with the 30% tax credit meant that Legacy would be paying 20% of the cost on an entire energy system. Thats 80% off 😳😳!! This system would allow their small off-grid operation in the mountains near Lakeside, MT, to operate on the sun all season long.
