Bathroom demo day, with Taylor bringing the Sparta energy. One kick, one “THIS IS SPARTA!”—thankfully the ceiling is a-ok.

Now that the old divider is out, we can get to work on making this bathroom look a whole lot different.
Tune in again next time for more calculated work goofin.

Would you believe this is the SAME room? 👀
This cramped laundry/bathroom combo wasn’t short on square footage—it just wasn’t using the space well.
We traded the stacked setup for a functional side-by-side layout, added a full-length folding counter, open shelving, better lighting, and a bold floral accent wall that completely changed the personality of the room.
Now it feels bigger, brighter, and actually enjoyable to use. That wallpaper might be our favorite part. 🌿
What’s the first thing you noticed in the after photo?

Some renovation days go exactly according to plan.

This was not one of those days. 😂

We were behind schedule, nothing wanted to cooperate, and morale was getting questionable.

Then Taylor Swift came on and, apparently, we had no choice but to follow instructions.

🎶 Shake it off. Fix the bathroom. Carry on. 🔨🍁

Sometimes remodeling is craftsmanship. Sometimes it’s problem solving. And sometimes it’s three contractors dancing in a bathroom until everyone feels better.

Sometimes a bathroom doesn’t need a completely different personality — it just needs the parts that have reached the end of their useful life rebuilt properly.

This bathroom had a lot worth keeping, including that fantastic original hex floor, so the goal wasn’t to erase everything old. We focused the renovation where it was needed most.

The existing tub (a cast iron enamel that had lost its glazing) and surround were removed, and once the wet area was opened up, we found moisture-related damage, inadequate framing/backing, and ventilation that wasn’t doing the space any favors.

We corrected the underlying issues, added proper support where needed, rebuilt the wet area, installed the new tub and surround, and finished everything back out for a cleaner, brighter, long wearing.

And yes — we absolutely kept that floor. ❤️

Sometimes the best remodel isn’t about replacing everything. It’s about knowing what’s worth saving, what needs corrected, and making sure the parts behind the finished work are done right.

This bathroom is basically a collection of things that shouldn’t have found each other… but somehow did.

The tile was sourced out of New York — over 100 years old, hand glazed and fired in Japan. The Kohler sink is an unused piece from the 80s in *Blueberry*. The nearly 100-year-old plaster mirror was brought back to life, and the vanity started as a 1930s dresser before we topped it with leathered granite.

Everything else was built around that tile, with little Japanese-inspired details worked in throughout.

We did every bit of this one, and tbh I’m not sure we’ll ever build another bathroom quite like it.
