A new retreat taking shape in Deer Mountain Village, nestled into the landscape of the Black Hills.

Layered rooflines, natural stone, and warm wood tones create a home that feels timeless, quiet, and connected to its surroundings. Large expanses of glass frame the views and bring light deep into the living spaces.

Designed as a place to slow down, gather, and enjoy the beauty of the Hills year-round.

Excited to share the preliminary design for a new lake home currently taking shape.

The vision blends timeless gabled forms, natural materials, and expansive lake-facing living spaces to create a home that feels both refined and deeply connected to its setting.

Looking forward to bringing this one to life — stay tuned.

Excited to see the first of several upcoming projects at Fargo Country Club take shape.

This home is rooted in classic proportions and timeless detailing — balanced gables, warm natural materials, and a welcoming front porch — thoughtfully reimagined for modern living.

Stay tuned.

A new lake home designed for all seasons.
Natural materials, warm light, and a composition that feels both grounded and refined.

Stone anchors the structure, while wood softens it. Large windows draw in the landscape, making the outdoors part of everyday living.

Designed for quiet mornings, full houses, and everything in between.

The best homes don’t separate indoor and outdoor living—they blur the line entirely.

This design centers around a fully integrated rear elevation, where covered outdoor space, large openings, and layered volumes create a natural flow between inside and out.

From quiet mornings to hosting friends, every square foot is intentional.

Every room that matters faces the backyard. Covered porch, wood soffit, walls of glass — at dusk it all makes sense.

This home is designed around a simple idea — strong forms, honest materials, and a composition that feels like it belongs.

Gabled volumes in natural stone, warm wood, and dark metal roofing, connected by a glazed connection that pulls light through the heart of the home.

More to come as this one takes shape.

There’s something timeless about arriving to a home where the lake is framed the moment you walk through the front door.

From there, the plan separates — a private retreat to one side, and to the other, the kitchen, dining, and living spaces, each vaulted and oriented toward the view.

Natural stone, warm wood, simple forms. Designed to feel just as right decades from now as it does today.

Excited to welcome McKenzie Wessels to the Strom Architecture team!

McKenzie joins us as an Interior Designer, bringing a strong balance of creativity and technical skill developed through her studies at North Dakota State University. She has a sharp eye for the details that make a space feel intentional — and a genuine commitment to ensuring every design works beautifully for the people who live and work in it.

At Strom, McKenzie will be working closely with our design team to bring interiors to life across a range of residential and commercial projects. Her thoughtful approach to design and passion for craft will be a great asset to our clients and the studio.

When she’s not in the office, McKenzie enjoys volleyball, staying active, spending time with friends, and soaking up lake days in the summer.

Welcome to the team, McKenzie — we’re glad to have you!
