🌱 Seeing This W**d Growing Faster Than Your Grass?
It could be nutsedge.
Nutsedge is easy to spot once you know what to look for. It grows taller and faster than the surrounding turf, often with a lighter green color and a distinctive upright appearance. It produces underground tubers connected by wiry rhizomes, which can make it difficult to control.
The problem? Mowing doesn't control nutsedge. Pulling it out by hand does not remove the underground tubers.
Nutsedge can quickly grow back after being cut, allowing it to remain a recurring problem in the lawn. It is especially common in North Texas during periods of warm temperatures, excess moisture, and poorly drained soil.
The right approach is to identify the w**d correctly and apply a targeted treatment while it is actively growing. Proper lawn care and watering practices can also help reduce the conditions that allow nutsedge to thrive.
At Burgas Turf Management, we help North Texas homeowners manage nutsedge and other common lawn w**ds with customized treatment programs designed around the needs of their turf.
