Lauren Paulina Gutić Fine artist based in Northern VA / DC area, specializing in portraiture and water-themed landscapes Hello! Welcome to my online gallery of works.

The majority of my paintings derive from personal, touching experiences in my life. Their titles may hint to the subject's name / place, or the emotions I felt translating the moment on to canvas. I've always paid close attention to elements of light, fine detail, high contrast, motion, and pattern. When standing afar my work could fall into the category of representational or realistic. But stepping as close as possible is where the magic comes from. Every brushstroke is visible and the history of the piece's layers show. A happy-medium between realism and abstraction.

Mud Mama Julia Cardone Schlenkermann raised a whole generation of “mud babies”, and now some of us are showing up with babies of our own. From being my first pottery teacher at 13, to minoring in ceramics at 21, to finally having a fellow mom/artist friend in my 30s… it’s such a blessing to have this beautiful craft keep us close after all this time.
