Celebrating our Honor Award 🏆 for East Potomac Miniature Golf, General Design, Maryland Chapter at the incredible

None of this happens without and co-founder Mike McCartin, who is rewriting what public golf in DC can be. Big thanks to project designer Natalie Benge who helped guide this one through construction.

Also, a huge shoutout to our partners at the who are taking on The Hike on June 9th, playing 100 holes to raise funds for affordable, accessible municipal golf and life-changing youth programming. A mission and a team we are proud to stand behind!

We’re thrilled to be part of the Garden Dialogues!

Join us at Threading Ecologies, our rural project nestled in Montgomery County’s agricultural reserve, shaped by the sweeping views of Sugarloaf Mountain and the living ecosystems of this remarkable landscape.

Hear from Principal Mila Antova and Principal Emeritus, Jay Graham, meadow consultant and contractor on how cross-disciplinary collaboration and deep regional knowledge guided the design to promote biodiversity, foster land stewardship, and weave habitat and wildlife corridors into the agricultural reserve cradling the site.

The tour also features two stunning rural retreats: Evans Pond Farm (Leesburg, VA) by and Black Oak Farm (Purcellville, VA) by , each a beautiful dialogue between historic farmland and contemporary design.

Al fresco lunch included. 2.0 LA CES credits pending approval.

The greenest material is the one already on site.

Nestled on a 6-acre site of steep slopes, dense woodland, and a stream within the Potomac Watershed, this project embraces the beauty and character of what already exists on the land.

The existing bluestone and monolithic steppers caught us first, weathered and already part of the place. is carefully lifting and palletizing the stone so it can be returned to the site with its patina and history intact.

Trees that had to come down with are being milled locally by returning to the site as built elements with a zero-mile journey home.

Each reclaimed stone and locally milled plank is a commitment to building with intention to reduce the demand for new extraction, lower embodied carbon, and minimize construction waste. Just old materials doing new work.

The design weaves new and existing into a cohesive landscape and architecture rooted in the client's vision.

We are thrilled to announce that East Potomac Mini Golf has received the 2026 Honor Award in General Design from the

Balancing history, ecology, and community was at the heart of this project. The site’s flat topography, heritage trees, and flood history required a careful and thoughtful approach to stormwater management, combining permeable paving, biofiltration media, and new plantings to manage stormwater within the existing constraints of fixed-hole elevations and protected root zones.

Since reopening in 2025, rounds played doubled, rising from 7,854 in 2024 to 17,835 in 2025, reflecting a community eager to reclaim this historic space. From a worn landmark to North America’s most storied miniature golf course restored, East Potomac Mini Golf has found its next chapter.

We are honored to announce that Silence Dogood Garden has received the 2026 Honor Award in Residential Design Single Family from the

The garden takes its name from Silence Dogood, Benjamin Franklin’s early pseudonym that quietly challenged convention, and the landscape follows suit by subverting the traditional lawn with a productive, ecologically rich food forest. Like its namesake, the garden argues quietly but persuasively for something better.

A layered planting strategy guided by permaculture principles creates a vertical food forest, while distinct habitat zones attract pollinators, birds, and beneficial insects throughout the seasons. A ribbon of limestone paving, inspired by the client’s childhood, weaves through the site and extends into the home, linking the interior and exterior as a single continuous experience.
