Why Design+Build?

Choosing who builds your home isn’t one-size-fits-all. But when you have a detailed vision, the process matters.

Design+Build means we’re involved while your home is still a dream, not just when it’s time to build.

We develop detailed plans based around how you live and utilize your home, and your vision. We create renderings so you can experience spaces before they exist. We stake off the entire home on site and walk-through it together, order materials early, and build mockups to work through details long before installation.

By the time construction begins, we don’t just have blueprints; we have a deeply developed, shared vision with our homeowners.

Better water starts with better plumbing. We use PE-RT to give your family a cleaner, healthier plumbing system built for generations. It’s flexible enough to require fewer fittings, so pure it’s recyclable, engineered for a 100-year service life, and uses full-flow fittings that deliver better water flow than conventional PEX systems.

I used to think the goal was to eventually stop doing remodels. Experience changed my mind.

Remodeling is one of the best classrooms in construction. Opening an older home lets us study what worked, what failed, and why; From moisture and structural issues to plumbing and electrical failures.

It also tests craftsmanship. Correcting imperfect existing conditions sharpens skills and ultimately improves how we build new homes.

Today the crew is working on a slab that was out of level and had moisture issues. We’re priming, liquid leveling, and applying waterproof membrane to the entire floor before the new floor covering goes in. This 60+ year-old slab will be in better shape than many new construction slabs by the time it’s all set and done.

Foot on the gas again!

Pre-construction is one of my favorite phases. It’s one of the biggest things that separates professional builders from the rest.

Before we ever break ground, we dive deep into every detail, troubleshoot potential issues, and develop a shared vision with our homeowners.

By the time the foundation starts, we aren’t figuring things out as we go. We’re executing an ironclad plan. Creating a smoother, less stressful build and bringing the client’s dream home to life.

Every detail is considered before we build or remodel. We compare flooring, tile, wood stains, and all custom finishes together to ensure every material works as one with each other. Even this temporary island is a full-scale mockup, allowing us to perfect its size, placement, and clearances before cabinets or countertops are ordered. It’s far better to make changes with a temporary plywood island than after thousands of dollars in custom cabinets and countertops are installed, only to realize the island is the wrong size or in the wrong location. And the crew loves to have the temporary work table, as an added bonus!

If you’re building a home, don’t just choose a slab at your countertop fabricator. Visit a regional stone yard first. You’ll discover far more unique options, along with countless variations of the same stone. Natural stone is exactly that—natural. Even two slabs of the same material and family can have completely different color, veining, and movement. That’s what makes it one of a kind.

Every space you’ve ever walked into made you feel something. You experienced it. That feeling isn’t created by one thing, it’s the sum of every design decision. An exhaust fan, trimless recessed lighting, flush outlets, flush switches, balanced trim work; you may not consciously notice each element on its own, but together they shape the experience of the space. That’s why the details matter.
