Tree pruning is an important part of protecting your home...even from cute invaders!

Recently, we completed this pruning project to provide clearance between tree limbs and a home with deteriorating soffits. Overhanging branches can act as a highway for squirrels and other wildlife, giving them easier access to vulnerable areas of a structure.

We created proper clearance between the trees and house to help reduce the likelihood of unwanted visitors finding their way into attics, eaves, and other hard-to-reach spaces. Our pruning work also improved tree structure which promotes healthy growth, and helps protect both the tree and the property.

A recent storm serves as an important reminder that not all tree hazards are visible from the outside!

Last week, a large oak tree in Kingston failed during the storm and fell into the roadway, taking down power lines in the process. Fortunately, no one was injured and the tree fell away from nearby structures.

After the tree came down, the reason for the failure became clear. The interior of the trunk was severely decayed and crumbling apart.

The homeowner shared that they had recently noticed sawdust around the tree and were planning to have it evaluated. Unfortunately, the tree failed before that assessment could take place.

One common cause of sawdust around trees is carpenter ant activity. While carpenter ants do not eat wood, they tunnel through dead and decaying wood to create nesting galleries. Their presence is often a strong indicator that internal decay may already exist.

If you notice sawdust, carpenter ants, cavities, fungal growth, dead branches, or other signs of decline, it is important to have the tree evaluated by a qualified professional.

🌳 Another successful planting project in Riverside! 🌳

Recently, the Arboreal Solutions team installed two Pyramidal Hornbeams (Carpinus betulus 'Fastigiata') and two Summersweet shrubs (Clethra alnifolia) to enhance a client's landscape with beautiful, long-lasting plant material.

What made this project especially memorable was our client's reaction when we arrived on site. While she expected a tree planting project, she was pleasantly surprised to see the full scope of our operation—including a stump grinder, professional crew, and specialized equipment needed to do the job properly.
