Cinco de Mayo: What We're Really Celebrating! 🎉🌮

You’ve probably seen the margaritas and mariachi bands, but do you know what Cinco de Mayo is really about?

Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is NOT Mexico’s Independence Day (that’s actually September 16!). Instead, it marks the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, when a small, outnumbered Mexican army defeated the powerful French forces. A true underdog victory!

In the United States, Cinco de Mayo has become a day to celebrate Mexican-American culture—honoring heritage through food, music, art, and community. It’s a chance to recognize the richness of Mexican contributions to our country.
