Instead of a high-gloss finish that creates harsh glare under large windows, this homeowner opted for an architectural matte-finish polyaspartic clear coat over a fresh, clean concrete prep.

Here is how we completed the installation:

• Planetary Diamond Grinding: Every inch of the existing slab was mechanically profiled using planetary diamond tooling connected to continuous-pulse HEPA dust extractors. • Full Broadcast Color Flakes: Applied an industrial epoxy base coat followed immediately by an edge-to-edge broadcast of decorative chips to hide imperfections and provide lasting slip resistance.

• UV-Stable Poly Aspartic Topcoat: Locked in with a clear, heavy-duty poly aspartic shield that will not yellow in sunlight and resists hot-tire pickup, oil leaks, and daily wear.

• Planetary Diamond Grinding: Prepared every inch using heavy planetary diamond grinders connected to continuous HEPA dust extractors (strictly zero acid washing) to open the concrete pores for an unbreakable mechanical key.

• Stem Wall Coating: Hand-ground the vertical perimeter stem walls so the seamless flake system extends up the walls for clean, edge-to-edge protection.

• Crack & Joint Repair: Chased, cleaned, and filled all surface fractures and pitting flush with high-strength structural menders before applying the base coat.

Installing new hardwood floors? The finish will only ever be as good as the subfloor underneath it.

We recently took on a challenging subfloor remediation project in Carpinteria to get an uneven, adhesive-covered slab perfectly flat and ready for new wood planks:

• Mechanical Mastic Removal: Stripped off stubborn, sticky legacy mastic adhesive across the entire slab using heavy planetary diamond grinders with industrial HEPA dust extractors—strictly zero chemical st*****rs or acid washing.

• Fixing a Severe Dip: The foundation dropped a full 1 inch lower over a 6-foot span along the main wall. We primed and poured a specialized self-leveling cement underlayment to build up the low section flush with the rest of the room.

• Diamond Flattening: Ground all transition lines smooth and flat to ensure zero dips, ridges, or hollow spots under the new flooring.

Our crew at C&N Decorative Concrete recently completed another massive commercial flooring project in Goleta, CA, transforming a battered 10,000 sq. ft. facility into a stunning, highly functional workspace.

This project threw everything at us! The original floor was heavily coated in old mastics, thick glues, and failing epoxy. Using our heavy-duty planetary diamond grinders, we stripped the slab down to the bare concrete. That’s when the real work started—uncovering a huge network of deep cracks and severe pitting hidden underneath.

We meticulously chipped out the damaged areas, applied high-strength repairs, and ground the patches perfectly flush. The biggest challenge? This vast space was actually made up of about 6 different types of concrete slabs, ranging from super soft to extremely dense. It took expert tooling and precise mechanical refinement to bring it all together.
