Strongest Gulf Hurricane in nearly 20 years by wind.

Hurricane Milton now has winds of 175 mph and a minimum central pressure of 911 mb. Milton is now the strongest hurricane in the Gulf this late in the season.

The last Gulf hurricane with 175 mph winds or greater was Rita in September of 2005 which peaked at 180 mph and pressure down to 895 mb. 12:50 pm 10.7.24
