Congratulations to the Incoming Class of 2025 IBEW Local 540 Apprentices!

We rolled out the red carpet—and the draft cards—at the Pro Football Hall of Fame to welcome the newest group of apprentices into the electrical trade.

Modeled after the NFL Draft, our Apprentice Draft Day celebrates hard work, commitment, and the beginning of a rewarding career. Each apprentice was “drafted” by one of our signatory union contractors, officially kicking off their journey in the IBEW/NECA Electrical Training Alliance.

What an incredible day at the Pro Football Hall of Fame! We welcomed our newest wave of apprentices during the Powering Canton Apprentice Draft Day—an annual tradition that bridges skilled talent with local contractors.

Powering Canton's 3rd Annual Apprentice Draft Day at the Pro Football Hall of Fame saw a remarkable turnout, demonstrating enthusiasm for the new Local 540 apprentices. The Canton LMCC, comprising of IBEW Local Union 540 and North Central Ohio NECA representatives, is devoted to promoting the Union Electrical Industry. The 540 JATC apprenticeship program provides an opportunity for individuals to earn while learning in the electrical field, culminating in debt-free education. This year's event featured Pro Football Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas, guest speaker Assistant to the International President of the IBEW, Austin Keyser and MC Ken Steel, making it an empowering experience.

Powering Canton had its 2nd Annual Apprentice Draft Day at the Pro Football Hall of Fame! What an amazing turn-out and a great way to show support for our new incoming Local 540 apprentices! The Canton LMCC is a joint committee of Local 540 IBEW and NECA representatives that are committed to promoting the Union Electrical Industry! The 540 JATC is an apprenticeship program that educates union skilled trades women and men in the electrical field, earn while you learn and graduate debt free! This year’s Pro Football hall of Famer was Dave Robinson and the event’s MC was Mr. Mike Gallina! It was truly a fantastic energetic event!
