Yesterday we quite possibly saved a life when one of our techs detected CO leaking from a supply register on a gas furnace maintenance and inspection. We got to replacing this heat exchanger as fast as possible and thought it would be a great time to inform all of our customers and fellow community members on the importance of gas furnace check ups and maintenances.
Your home’s gas furnace is designed to keep you warm and comfortable — but without regular inspections, it can quickly turn into a serious safety hazard. Over time, normal wear and tear can cause problems inside your furnace that aren’t visible from the outside. One of the most dangerous of these is a cracked heat exchanger.
A cracked heat exchanger allows carbon monoxide — a colorless, odorless, and deadly gas — to leak into your home’s air supply. Even small leaks can cause headaches, dizziness, nausea, and fatigue, while prolonged exposure can be fatal. Because carbon monoxide is impossible to detect without proper testing, regular professional inspections are the only way to ensure your system is safe.
In addition to life-threatening gas leaks, skipping annual maintenance can lead to:
• Reduced efficiency, driving up energy costs
• Unexpected breakdowns during peak heating or cooling seasons
• Shortened equipment lifespan, leading to costly replacements
• Poor indoor air quality and increased dust or allergens
Routine HVAC inspections and tune-ups ensure your system runs safely, efficiently, and reliably all year long. Technicians can identify cracks, leaks, or worn components early — before they become dangerous or expensive problems.
Protect your home. Protect your family.
Schedule your gas furnace and HVAC inspection today — because safety and peace of mind start with maintenancenge
