Most men are doing one of three things with their past.
They are either hiding from it, performing because of it, or returning back to it.
Hiding says:
"If people really knew me, they would reject me."
Performing says:
"I have to become successful enough to outrun who I used to be."
Returning says:
"This is just who I am, so I might as well go back."
But that is what happens when our past is not redeemed.
God does not redeem a man by pretending his past did not happen.
He redeems him by bringing truth, conviction, responsibility, and grace into the places he used to avoid.
There are parts of my story I wish I could go back and change.
But I will never be ashamed of the way God stepped into those places and redeemed what I thought was too broken to use.
That is why this part of my life is no longer something I run from, hide from, or try to prove myself beyond.
It has become part of why I feel called to challenge, cover, and celebrate men who have a desire to say yes to Jesus.
Stop hiding.
Stop performing.
Stop returning.
Tell God the truth.
Tell one trusted man the truth.
Take the next obedient step.
Redemption is real.
