Full-scale printed template ➡️ joist layout ➡️ curved rim joist ➡️ final fit.

Every joist cut on this project was pulled directly from a 1:1 template. Once the curve was established, the rim was bent to match and checked against the same pattern used for layout.

It’s a little extra work up front, but accuracy matters when you’re building curves.

Not many people understand just how hard it is to bend mineral-based composites compared to PVC.

This month I had the opportunity to work with the best of the best and help challenge the idea of what was possible with Deckorators Voyage. What started as a learning trip turned into setting new benchmarks for bending wide-width mineral-based composite boards.

This month I flew to Denver to work with Colorado Board Benders and learn from some of the best in the business. What started as a learning opportunity turned into helping push Deckorators Voyage farther than anyone thought possible.

Grateful for the experience, the knowledge shared, and the chance to be part of something pretty unique. Looking forward to applying what I learned on future projects here in New Hampshire.

Curved decks are awesome… until it’s time to figure out where the footings go 😅

With no straight edges to measure from, this is where our stakeout equipment comes in—dialing in each helical pile location exactly where it needs to be.

No guessing. No “close enough.” Just clean layout and a solid foundation to build from.

One of the most common mistakes we see with above-ground pools:
The pool goes in first… then the deck gets designed around it.
That approach usually creates compromises.
For this project we worked with the homeowners during the planning phase. We mapped the deck footprint and elevations directly on the ground so they could visualize the space and ensure the pool height will align perfectly with the finished deck surface.
Designing the pool and deck together always leads to a better result.

Everyone says, “Just bend PVC first.”
We didn’t.
We chose Vista because we trust the product—even though composite isn’t the easy route.
Still learning the heat-bending process, but this test landed a 12’ radius.
Documented with video and thermal imaging so we can keep improving.

Winter is our R&D season.

While installs pause, we’re in the shop learning, bending, shaping, and refining new techniques — from deck bending to curved aluminum rail systems.

Not every builder is willing to slow down and learn something new. We are.

Spring projects are already taking shape, and we’re excited to bring these details into real-world builds.

Straight lines are great — but curves are more fun.

When a tree damages a deck, the next step is understanding what can be safely repaired—and what can’t.

The images below include digital repair models and planning visuals from decks damaged by fallen trees. Some are current evaluations we’re quoting for repair, and others are from past projects where we assisted homeowners by providing documentation and repair plans to support their insurance claims.

Creating these models allows us to identify structural issues, plan safe repairs, and provide clear, detailed estimates for homeowners and their insurance companies.

We also help homeowners navigate the insurance process by supplying photos, documentation, and repair estimates to support their claims.

See it before you buy it. 👀➡️🏡
We provided a complete digital deck design, then turned it into reality with helical piles, engineered beams, pre-stained KDAT framing, and a clean finish using Summit decking and aluminum railings.
The old deck suffered major rot issues—this one is built so the owners won’t have to worry about that again. 💪
