🌪️ Hurricane Destroyed This Spa? Think Again…

The homeowner believed the spa had been destroyed. Once we began our investigation, we uncovered the real problem.

The spa had been leaking from day one because the original pool builder installed flex pipe outside the spa wall. Over time, that constant leak washed out the soil behind the retaining wall, causing it to fail.

We also discovered the retaining wall had been built with block instead of a solid poured concrete retaining wall.

We removed the failed section, tied into the existing sound structure, rebuilt it with a solid poured concrete retaining wall, repaired the leaking spa, and restored everything the right way.

We don’t recommend installing flex pipe outside a spa wall or building retaining walls this way.

Sometimes the damage you see isn’t the real problem. Finding the real problem—and fixing it correctly—is what matters.

The homeowner thought a hurricane caused this failure… but that wasn’t the real problem.

This pool had been built by another pool builder just three years earlier.

The homeowner hired Into H2O Pools & Spas to repair what he believed was hurricane damage. He also told us his spa had never worked properly from the day it was built.

Only after excavating did we uncover the real problem.

We discovered a flex pipe installed outside the concrete spa shell had been leaking underground for years, slowly washing away the supporting soil beneath the raised retaining wall.

We also found the original retaining wall had been constructed with concrete block. This is not a construction method we recommend for this type of raised structural wall.

The homeowner didn’t want to replace the entire retaining wall, so we worked with him to preserve the unaffected portion. We removed the failed section, excavated down to sound structure, and tied in our solid reinforced poured concrete wall to restore the integrity of the structure.

We also repaired the leaking plumbing, restored the supporting foundation, and completed the project with beautiful new travertine.

Sometimes the biggest problems aren’t what you can see… they’re hidden beneath the surface.
