The future of infrastructure is being built by the next generation of skilled professionals.

Recently, the S&N Infrastructure team had the opportunity to visit Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute to speak with students preparing to enter the workforce. Our team shared insight into the many career opportunities available within the utility and telecommunications construction industry, including overhead and underground fiber installation.

As demand for reliable broadband and utility infrastructure continues to grow, so does the need for hardworking individuals who are ready to build the networks that keep communities connected.

Thank you to Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute for welcoming us and allowing us to engage with the upcoming graduating class. We appreciate the opportunity to share our industry, answer questions, and help students explore the rewarding career paths available in infrastructure construction.

Kevin brings more than 26 years of experience in utility locating, technical training, management, compliance, and safety. Throughout his career, he has played a vital role in training and developing new hire technicians, providing the knowledge, guidance, and hands-on experience needed to support both employee success and company growth for more than two decades.

Kevin is passionate about helping locate technicians build successful careers while supporting the continued advancement of damage prevention practices and emerging technologies within the industry.

Outside of work, Kevin enjoys spending time with his two children, working in his wood shop, sawing lumber on one of his two sawmills, and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay.

We are pleased to announce the promotion of Sam Viars from Safety Manager to Director of Safety for S&N.

Sam brings more than four decades of experience in public safety, insurance claims, and corporate safety management. Since joining S&N in 2011, he has led corporate safety initiatives overseeing safety programs for more than 1,000 employees nationwide. His expertise in OSHA compliance, incident investigation, and training program development has played a vital role in supporting operational excellence across the organization.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys spending time with his wife and family at their cabin on the New River in southwest Virginia. His greatest joy these days is spending time with his first grandchild.
