Take a close look at the picture before you keep scrolling.

Look at the pool wall where the jet is located. See how the jet is no longer facing straight out and appears to be pointing upward? Look around that area and you can see the BULGE in the pool wall.

According to the homeowner’s original post, the pool was drained while installers were repairing cracks around the shelf/step area, and they encountered hydrostatic pressure that exceeded the bracing they had in place.

This is exactly why I tell customers that choosing a pool is about more than what looks good on installation day.

Construction matters. Ground conditions matter. Water pressure matters. Experience matters.

I’ve spent years in this business learning pools firsthand — in the dirt, in the heat, solving problems and seeing what works and what doesn’t. When I recommend gunite, it’s because it’s the construction method I trust and stand behind.

Every pool type still has to be designed, installed and maintained correctly, and gunite isn’t immune to problems either. But when I have the opportunity to give a customer a strong, fully customizable pool built specifically for their property, gunite is my choice.
