To our amazing customers - we know how
much you love this little town of Ludlow, and
the surrounding areas, as it is your home away
from home. Unfortunately, as you know, it has
been hit hard by flooding and mud slides after
this most recent rain storm. I know it must be
so difficult to be so far away from your home
waiting for news on how it came through this
storm as we work hard to get roads opened
back up to safely gain access. Many local
businesses are faced with difficult clean up
and no income as they navigate this disaster.
Many people have been asking how they can
help this community from afar. Tygart
Mountain Sports, located in the Okemo Market
Place which was hit hard by a massive
mudslide, has shared these ideas below. We
thought we would share them with you. Thank you for your support! ❤️
From Tygart Mountain Sports:
Hey all, we’ve been inundated with supportive comments and check-ins and people wanting to help. It’s hard to do from afar with no central organization but we’ve been brainstorming for a way for those who are out of town to help the area they love.
Our idea is this… what you can do to help businesses is to call or go on the websites for local Ludlow businesses and buy some gift cards that you can use at a later date, or order something from the webstores. Flood insurance is garbage and the businesses in town are going to get hit hard with clean up costs, not to mention the fact that many of us are going to be closed until the town is operational again. I’ll leave a link for those who want to do something like that from our site below.
Another good idea to help locals would be to call the local restaurants and pay for some gift cards or meals that the restaurants can pass out to those in need or the clean up crews who are absolutely kicking ass in town right now. This helps the restaurant and the town. There are teams from local excavation crews, property management people, etc working like crazy, as well as first responders.
Lastly, calling Aubuchon hardware and purchasing gift cards for them to pass out to those in need would also be a good idea, as supplies are going to be needed all over. Home Depot gift cards would work too, tho they’re farther away. If you’d like to send some Home Depot gift cards to us here at the shop, we can get them passed out to those who might need them. I’ll also drop our address below if you’d like to do that.
Please share this idea with your people in an around the area, or who you know visit the area frequently.
Most of the businesses in town are reliant on tourism to survive, and that’s gone for a while.
Thanks for sharing if you can and supporting all of us through this mess. We miss you all and can’t wait till we see you again soon.
