The Hills We’ll Die On as Custom Deck Builders 🔨
There are a few things we just won’t compromise on when it comes to building a deck. Call them our “hills we’ll die on.” 😉
#1 — Your deck should feel like an extension of your home.
A great deck shouldn’t feel like an afterthought bolted onto the back of your house. The layout, materials, colors, and details should flow naturally from your home and the way you actually live.
#2 — Good framing matters even more than what you see on top.
Beautiful decking gets all the attention, but the framing is what’s holding everything together. We believe in building the part you don’t see with the same care as the part you do.
#3 — Your railing can make or break the entire look.
Railing isn’t just a safety feature—it’s a major design element. The right railing can completely change the style, feel, and finished look of your deck.
#4 — Don’t sacrifice function for looks.
The best deck isn’t just beautiful in photos. It should be comfortable, practical, durable, and designed around how your family will actually use it.
#5 — Your deck should be built for YOUR climate.
Missouri and Kansas don’t exactly go easy on outdoor living spaces. ☀️🌧️❄️💨 We get a harsh blast of all four seasons, sometimes with a little extra attitude.
That’s why how your deck is built matters just as much as how it looks. Materials, drainage, framing, fastening, spacing, and construction details all play a role in how your deck holds up over time.
At the end of the day, we’re not just building something that looks good on day one.
We’re building decks we’d be proud to put in our own backyard.
What’s one deck-building “hill” you’ll never compromise on? 👇
