We had the honor and pleasure of reconnecting with Violet about a month and a half after meeting her for the first time at the Cake concert here in Tuscaloosa. Out of everyone there she was the one selected to take home this American Fringe Tree. This species has a lot of common names but it's often called Grancy Greybeard in our neck of the woods. We got to walk their property and select a lovely spot for this tree directly behind their house where it gets nice morning and midday sun and afternoon shade. The whole family was very curious and inquisitive about the trees and plants on their property. We had a lovely time walking around and talking about their Sourwood trees, Hophornbeams, Sparkleberries, American Persimmons, and many more. This young tree will have a wonderful young lady to steward it along as they both grow up together. Thank you to the Buckley family Ben, Jessica, Ruthie, and Violet for including us in helping to plant this lovely native tree. And thank you to CAKE for spreading the love and appreciation for our natural world one concert and one tree at a time.
