After a major storm like the one we just had, roofers start showing up everywhere. Some are great companies trying to help homeowners… and unfortunately, some are not.

We had a homeowner call us out today for an inspection. When we arrived, another “roofer” was already there. He told the homeowner, “I’m here to inspect your property,” handed them paperwork, and said, “I just need you to put your information here.”

What the homeowner didn’t realize was that the “information sheet” was actually a contract.

While the homeowner was filling it out, the roofer was already inside the home “inspecting damage.”

PLEASE be careful who you deal with after a disaster like this.

There are a lot of honest, reputable roofing companies in our area — but there are also plenty of fly-by-night contractors looking to take advantage of homeowners during stressful situations.

Before signing anything:
• verify they are licensed with the Oklahoma construction industries board
• Do your research
• Verify the company is local and established
• Read paperwork carefully
• Check reviews and references
• Don’t feel pressured into signing on the spot

Yesterday, our team had the opportunity to step in and help some homeowners in Muskogee who were impacted by the recent tornado.

This situation hit a little different, the homeowners are elderly and disabled, and the damage left them in a really tough spot. A tree had come down on their home, leaving it exposed and vulnerable to even more damage.

We got to work right away. Our crew safely removed the tree and got the home water-tight to prevent any further issues.

But we didn’t stop there.

We’re now helping coordinate their move into a new home that’s being covered by their insurance, so they have a safe and comfortable place to stay while we restore their current house back to a livable condition.

This is what it’s all about for us, taking care of people when they need it most. Not just fixing homes, but actually helping our clients through some of the toughest moments they’ll face.

We’re honored to be part of their journey, and we’ll be sharing updates along the way.

We’ve been staying busy at Twisted C Construction, knocking out projects and bringing new ones to life. Here’s a short recap from the week we just had:

• Exterior upgrade — cedar posts, cedar accents, cedar siding, and full stain. Gable vents, privacy fence, and car siding left to complete this project!
• Deck rebuild — demo underway for a new Trex composite decking system with a custom cedar pergola.
• 3 roofs completed — installed with Tamko Titan XT shingles.
