Grill night just got a whole lot easier 🔥 This Tulsa family already had a great covered pavilion and stone fireplace, but their old outdoor kitchen took up too much room and was a hassle to cook in. We replaced it with a new stucco kitchen, granite countertops, and new appliances, laid out so cooking outside is actually easy.

Now there's more room to gather, a better spot to prep and grill, and an easy walk from dinner to the fireplace to the pool.

A backyard made for everyday living in Tulsa! ☀️ This new pergola runs the full length of the patio, giving this family a shaded spot to fire up the grill, eat dinner outside, and enjoy slow mornings with coffee while looking out over the yard.

We tied it into the house with SkyLift brackets, which raise the pergola above the roofline for more headroom, better airflow, and a clean, finished look. Up top, the Apollo polycarbonate roof gives shade and keeps the rain off while still letting natural light through, so the patio gets used on sunny afternoons and drizzly evenings alike.

New covered pergola in the Tulsa area! These homeowners had just finished a beautiful new pool and wanted a shaded spot to relax right beside it. We built a 645 sq ft cedar pergola stained dark walnut, with 6x6 posts and 6x12 beams, tied into the house with Skylift brackets. On top is a double-wall Apollo polycarbonate roof that lets the light through while keeping it up to 20 degrees cooler underneath. Thinking about a pergola for your backyard? Here's another pergola that we didn't build that we had to fix.

This home-owner had a part-time pergola builder construct this pergola for them, unfortunately he did not build it properly and it was in need of some repairs. He didn't install any corbels (the diagonal braces that give a pergola their strength) and the pergola was starting a lean pretty heavily, and he used flimsy 1x4 slats for a privacy wall. 1-2 years after it was built, a storm rolled through and destroyed the privacy wall.

We had to shore up the pergola to correct the lean, add in the corbels, and build a sturdy privacy wall for them. You can see how bad it was leaning.

This house had absolutely ZERO covered patio space out the back door. We added a large built-in covering so the family could enjoy being outside while their kids played in the backyard. They wanted it to look original to the house and I think we accomplished that goal 😉 Check out the comment section for the before pic.

We built a pergola for a customer and their neighbor loved the design and had us over to put together a quote for her (you can see our pergola in the background). Our price was more expensive than she was wanting to spend so she shopped around and found someone a little cheaper. This cheaper contractor copied my design but the quality of work was extremely poor! The lady had to call me and pay me to come out and fix the pergola. From a distance the pergola looked good, but as you got closer and stood under it, all of the poor craftsmanship details stood out like a sore thumb.

This fits perfectly into the saying "Buy once, cry once". Modern Woodscapes is definitely not the cheapest option around, but if you do go with the cheaper option, be prepared for future problems that you have to deal with.
