For this project, we wanted to add a small area of real grass, but traditional pop-up sprinklers weren’t the best option.
With new pavers and the surrounding block wall so close to the lawn, sprinkler overspray could continually expose those surfaces to our Arizona hard water, eventually leaving behind mineral buildup and staining.
So instead, we installed a subsurface drip irrigation system.
Rather than spraying water from above, dripline is installed beneath the lawn, allowing water to be delivered directly into the soil and root zone.
This approach helps:
Reduce overspray and evaporation
Protect surrounding pavers and walls from hard-water spotting
Deliver water directly where the grass needs it
Make irrigation more efficient in our Arizona climate
Keep walkways and surrounding hardscape dry while the lawn is being watered
In the photos, you can see the irrigation running before the grass is installed. Once the lawn goes in, the entire watering system will be hidden underneath it.
A clean, efficient solution that gives this customer a real lawn without spraying hard water onto their new pavers and surrounding walls.
