Koko Head Crater Botanical Garden - Winter 2017.
Just a few miles from my house in Hawaii Kai, tucked into an extinct cinder cone is the Koko Head Botanical Garden. This collection of plants was first established in 1958 and is a model of xeriscape concepts supporting a drought-tolerant landscape.
There are four major collections that are organized by geographic region (Africa, the Americas, Hawaii, Madagascar). There are other collections too which include native Hawaiian plants, aloes, baobabs, cacti, palms to name a few.
