Earthquake proofing…That diagonal 2x4 support had a crack in it from a knot that had been in that board since the house was built in 1963! The crack was pretty much the width of the board! Since I painted the board white it’s been bugging me so I put a couple of sisters up there to make sure it doesn’t snap in an earthquake. I’m surprised it didn’t snap ages ago.

In addition to having the crew note any issues with their train or the manifest on the manifest, I have them fill out an Incident Report card for any railroad related issues. After the session I go through the manifests and the cards and I fix/adjust/correct anything so that each op session gets better.
