Did you know that many yard hydrants fail because they can't drain properly?

A frost-free hydrant is designed to drain water below the frost line after every use. If the drain becomes blocked by dirt, clay, or the wrong type of rock, water can remain inside the hydrant. When temperatures drop, that trapped water can freeze, expand, and crack the hydrant.

✅ The right way to install a yard hydrant: • Use clean, washed ¾-inch drain rock around the drain port. • Avoid sand, dirt, or gravel with fines, which can clog the drainage area. Remove hoses and spray nozzles after use so the hydrant can drain completely.
