In an effort to create a page that better describes what I do today, I will be posting in the page PLDeere Studios from here on out. Facebook would not allow me to change the page name of Pictures In Glass, which as a business has not existed for a couple of years. Please go to PLDeere Studios and “Like” the page to keep updated on what’s happening today!

Getting closer on my pillows. These are my preliminary designs. Fabric with all three designs should be here Wednesday. They will be a little different than these.

Walt at Tecumseh woodwork’s was the answer to my prayers today. I have been looking for a fabulous way to frame these crushed glass pieces, and I think I found it. Can’t wait to see them when they’re done. Love spending time with creative people like I did today with wild and his wife. Should have these done in time for my booth at Artalicious Fine Arts Fair.

I am so close to putting these all together! My designs for an 18” pillow with fused glass button, 10”x20” pillow with fused glass button, and greeting cards with my glass designs. All patterns will be available as pillows, cards, sachets, and a variety of glass items with a wide range of pricing. They will be put together as gift sets, or available individually. Artalicious Fine Arts Fair is just around the corner. Not much time left to finish these up.

My fabric is in, my cards are on their way, and I’m still working on the glass buttons for the pillows. What the last ones looked like after opening the kiln. Still not happy. Trying again on the right.

I share these because I love watching the process of an artist. Also because I think people need to see what goes into creating original work of art, not something from Lowe’s, not something from Hobby lobby. Nothing against them, I shop there too. But what I create is original, from scratch, not just home “baked” like a roll of cookie dough from the grocery store. Today’s kiln firing just started, trying a sample of a fused glass button versus torch worked bead.

Lessons learned: Not what you want to hear after firing a piece of glass all day and waiting for it to cool during the night. The tinking sound of glass cracking is not fun. This was a piece I sent to a gallery in Arkansas years ago, they sent it back to me all cracked. Going for a refuse, but I think this glass might be too thick for my kiln. For those who like to know the process, thick glass has to cool very slowly. Might have to find another kiln for me to use that is temperature controlled.

So ... this is just a sample pillow created with my artwork printed on the front and a trillium glass bead on the back flap. Excited to get my professionally printed ones next week and work on perfecting my glass beads for the back. Plan to take some of these to Artalicious Fine Arts Fair in a couple of weeks. My finished pieces will be more professionally done. But wanted to share to get feedback. Honest feedback.
