We’ll begin with a brief seminar covering timber frame design and the building process, then walk through this completed modern timber frame home. You’ll have the opportunity to experience the Sunrise Summit floor plan firsthand, see its distinctive timber-framed courtyard with translucent roof, and talk with the Timbercraft team about planning and building your own home.

Every timber frame starts as an idea.

Before there are timbers in our shop, we're working through how the frame will look, how it will connect with the architecture, and how it will shape the spaces inside the home.

Then the drawings become something very real.

These images show that progression—from the original 3D design to full-size Douglas fir timbers being assembled and checked on our shop floor in Tecumseh.

It's one of our favorite parts of the process: watching something that existed on a screen begin to look like the home we've been designing with our client.

Some of the smallest details require the most craftsmanship.

These decorative corbels start with a drawing, but bringing that detail into a heavy Douglas fir timber takes careful layout, cutting, shaping and sanding by hand.

It's the kind of detail that may only be one small part of the finished timber frame — but it's also what makes a custom frame feel truly custom.

A smooth raising day starts long before the truck arrives on site.

Before a Timbercraft frame leaves our Michigan shop, we pre-fit the joinery, make the final adjustments, sand the timbers and apply the finish.

It's one more opportunity for our craftsmen to put their hands on every piece and make sure the frame is ready before it ever reaches the jobsite.

The result is a better-looking frame and a much smoother installation for the crew in the field.

This lakeside pavilion started with a simple idea: create a space that combines storage, a covered bar, and easy access to the lake and dock—all within a relatively small footprint.

From design and engineering to fabrication and pre-fitting in our Michigan shop, the same attention to detail goes into making a project like this come together.

And that's one of our favorite parts of custom timber framing—taking an idea that's specific to how someone wants to use their property and turning it into something built specifically for them.
