A Day of Learning at KSWPA Field Day!
It was an incredible opportunity to learn from some very knowledgeable people and connect with others who share our passion for sheep and sustainable agriculture.
We learned about grazing management and temporary fencing solutions, ewe lamb development and feed efficiency, and selecting structure and genetics for both grass- and grain-finished lambs. We also had the opportunity to tour a solar grazing site and see firsthand how sheep can be integrated into these systems.
We came home full of ideas, new connections, and plenty to think about as we continue working toward our goals here at Stihl Ridge Farm.
Weβre always learning, always improving, and striving to leave our pastures better than we found them. ππ
Today, we hosted the KSWPA Field day here in Franklin, Kentucky. It was a hot one for sure, but an engaged group of producers and great speakers (and food!) made for a great time.
Thank you to Dr. Camren Maierle and Dr. Nicole Kopetzky for sharing their knowledge with us, to Katie and Harry Frederick for their support and help with planning the event, and the KSWPA board for asking us to host.
Topics of the day were solar grazing and grazing management, temporary fencing, ewe lamb development, feed efficiency research, genetic selection AND ram evaluation!
Much appreciation to all who attended!
