Important Update: White Glove Handyman Services

I want to thank everyone who trusted me with their home projects over the past few months — it’s been a real honor to serve our community in this way.

After a lot of thought, I’ve made the decision to close down White Glove Handyman Services. I’ll be finishing up the jobs already scheduled, but I won’t be taking on any new work.

This wasn’t an easy call, but I’m shifting my full focus back to Big Sky Internet Design and Aggieland Website Design. Website design has always been the primary business, where demand has really grown, and my new service offering, Tell Your Business Story, has taken off!

If you’re looking for ongoing handyman support, the Sun Rays magazine and of course Google always has a great list of local professionals to check out.

Thank you again for your support — it’s meant more than you know!

Game Day, Movie Night, or Just Showing Off — Your Patio TV Deserves Better!

Just helped a client take their patio TV setup to the next level by getting it up on the wall where it belongs. No more teetering on a table or hogging all the space.

✅ Mounted solidly on the patio wall
✅ Level and secure (because crooked screens are not a vibe)
✅ Cables tucked and tidy
✅ Ready for everything from football to Friday night flicks

If your outdoor TV is still balancing on a table like it’s afraid of heights, let me help you fix that.

I’m Tom with White Glove Handyman Services, making patios in Georgetown and Sun City a little safer — and a lot cooler — one project at a time.

Don’t Let Your TV Do the Splits!

I helped a client recently who bought a nice new flat-screen TV… but the factory legs were so wide and flimsy the whole thing wobbled on their little stand. Honestly, it looked like it was about to dive off the edge.

Here’s what I did:
✅ Assembled a universal center-mount stand that fit their TV perfectly
✅ Compact design so it fit on their small furniture with room to spare
✅ Sturdy and even swivels if needed
✅ No more teetering TV

Now it sits safely, looks sharp, and no one has to worry about knocking it over.

If your TV’s factory legs don’t fit your stand — or just make you nervous — give me a call. I’m Tom with White Glove Handyman Services, helping folks in Georgetown and Sun City make their homes safer, one project at a time.

Bathrooms Don’t Come With a Safety Warning Label — But Maybe They Should.” 🚽💡

Just wrapped up a nice little safety upgrade job:

- Grab bars installed on the toilet
- Larger, easy-to-use toilet handles for older less mobile hands
- Night light switch combo in the bathroom (because no outlet where you need one, naturally 🙄)

These safety upgrades join others I’ve already done for them — motion-activated lights in closets, bathrooms, garage, utility room, and bright LEDs in the garage. I’ve been slowly helping make their home safer one project at a time.

These small projects make a big difference when mobility gets tricky.
It’s all about prevention — and staying independent.

🎨 When Handyman Work Turns Into Arts & Crafts…

One of my most favorite Sun City client wanted me to hang 3 sheets of self-adhesive floral wallpaper in her laundry room. Easy, right? 😅

✅ First sheet — easy peasy.
✅ Second sheet — floral pattern matching from hell.
Every time I lined up the top, the bottom would shift. And of course, being self-adhesive, once it sticks — it’s STUCK. 🤦‍♂️

Finally got it lined up perfectly after a battle of patience and precision (and maybe more than a few unsavory words under my breath 😄).

But wait — there’s more!
She wanted a fancy ribbon border too. No problem!
Then the two-sided tape did not stick. Hot glue to the rescue! 🔥

✅ The result? Beautiful.
✅ The client? Happy.
✅ Me? Ready for a VO on the Rocks!

🎯 Nail Pops: Because Even New Houses Like to Keep You Humble.

This little Sun City beauty was barely 3 years old and already had a case of the drywall 'Nail Pops'!

Why? Overdriven nails AND screws. They were sunk so deep during construction they broke through the drywall paper — and over time, BOOM. Nail pops.

✅ Dug out the old fasteners
✅ Added new screws (at the right depth this time)
✅ Multiple coats of mud
✅ Matched the knockdown texture (Ugh 😅)
✅ Primed and painted - like it never happened.

If you’ve got bumps showing up on your walls or ceilings, let me handle it BEFORE you convince yourself you can learn drywall repair on YouTube. It's so easy!

🧯 When Light Switches Give Up on Life…

This week in Sun City, a client's old switch literally fell apart in their hand. Not yanked, not misused—just old plastic finally giving up after years of service.

I swapped it out for a modern duplex switch—safe, sharp-looking, and solid.

If your switches or outlets feel loose, look yellowed, or click funny, it might be time for an upgrade. These little fixes can prevent bigger problems down the road (like shocks or flickering lights).

🪑 This Bench Deserved More Than Just a Quick Stain

A homeowner in Sun City reached out about refreshing their outdoor bench. The request was simple: a little stain to clean it up.

But when I got there, it was clear the bench had been through years of Texas weather. The wood was worn, the joints were loose, and it needed more than just a surface touch-up.

So I brought it back to the shop and gave it the time and attention it needed:

🔧 Reinforced all the joints with exterior wood glue and screws
🌧 Sanded down years of wear and splintering
⌛ Wood filled in screw holes to smooth things out
🎨 Applied two coats of quality exterior stain for lasting protection

By the time it was back in place, it wasn’t just better looking—it was stronger, safer, and ready to be used and enjoyed again. In fact rain is beading on it like a new car!

I believe if something’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right. That’s how I approach every project.

🚨 Safety + Comfort Upgrade Alert! 🚨

Just swapped out these old-school illuminated bathroom switches for a new modern light switch with a built-in night light—and the difference is HUGE.

Why it matters:
✅ Soft, dimmable light at night (no blinding glare at 2AM)
✅ No more stumbling to find the switch
✅ Clean, modern design that blends right in
✅ Peace of mind for you or your guests

These are great for Sun City & Georgetown folks who want a little more comfort and safety in their daily routine.

If you're still using the old glow-style switches, this is one of those “small job, big improvement” kinds of upgrades. Happy to help if you want one installed.

Uh-Oh! 😩 She had to move her coffee pot. That was the final straw...☕️and that’s when she called me.

Turns out a GFCI outlet went bad and took all the kitchen outlets with it.

But when I opened it up… whoa. Someone had “MacGyvered” a light cord through the wall, in front of the wall box and wired it in with scraps like it was arts and crafts day. 🎨🧵

Seriously, though, the worst of it, it was like that for over 20 years.

I sealed it off safely ✅, installed a new GFCI ✅, and tested all the outlets ✅.

Then I suggested we ditch the old fluorescent lights (which no longer work) and switch to dimmable LEDs with a timer 🌅💡—no more flipping switches all day.

If your kitchen has surprises, or your coffee routine’s in danger ☕️, I’m just down the road.
