Our LEAN continuous improvement journey with Craig from Talus Holdings continues, and over the past couple of workshops we tackled two more key processes.
In one session, we mapped our entire post-construction process — from the moment an estimate is won all the way through to collecting retainage. We looked at every handoff, every responsibility, and every point where things tend to slow down or fall through the cracks, giving us a clear roadmap for tightening things up from first win to final payment.
In a separate session, we turned our attention to janitorial supply ordering, mapping the full process from the moment supplies are identified as needed all the way through to getting them distributed into the buildings. That end-to-end look helped us spot delays, clarify ownership, and simplify the handoffs along the way.
Neither workshop stayed inside the office walls, either. We made a point of bringing in our field crew members — cleaners, supervisors, and managers — to weigh in alongside our office team, so the maps we built reflected what actually happens on the ground, not just what we assumed happens from behind a desk.
(Our dogs were less impressed. They were just excited about the catered lunch.)
Two different workshops, two different parts of the business — but the same goal: clearer processes and a stronger, more efficient operation. We're excited to keep putting these improvements into action.
