For the first time, we're happy to share pictures from our internationally recognized Bull Run project in a social media debut!

This project earned an Honorable Mention in the Landscape Lighting category for the 2020 LIT Lighting Design Awards. 🏅🏅

The goal was to showcase the beauty of the landscape and create subtle lighting on the home to allow it to blend in with the property. We utilized moonlighting along the driveway which resulted in cascading light and shadows. Other points of interest we illuminated included a water feature, statues, and trees.

The homeowner loved the glow we added to this rustic, natural property and we're honored to have been recognized for our excellence in this international design contest!

Landscape Lighting Bull Run Project

Our Bull Run project was recently recognized for excellence in an international lighting design competition!

Master Designer & Enlightened Lighting, LLC Founder, Patrick Harders, received an Honorable Mention in the Landscape Lighting category for the 2020 LIT Lighting Design Awards. Winners were just announced this week.

The LIT Jury board members evaluated 350 design submissions from 43 countries, looking for cutting edge lighting designs exceeding current standards and trends, and also seeking out visionary designers showcasing creativity and innovation.

Proud to shine a light on this noteworthy project in a natural and historic area.

Halloween won't be the same this year, but we've heard candy sales are up & some neighborhoods are finding creative ways to safely distribute candy. 🍬🎃🍫 If you are expecting trick-or-treaters, make sure your property is well lit, with this handy check list:

☑️ Test out your exterior lights to make sure the bulbs have not burnt out.
☑️ Replace any bulbs that have burnt out.
☑️ Consider switching out incandescent and halogen bulbs to more energy-efficient options like LED’s.
☑️ Survey your property and identify changes of elevation, steps, cracks in sidewalk, etc. Be sure to closely examine any problem areas where children could trip or stumble.
☑️ Make sure any problematic areas of your property are well lit or clearly marked so that trick-or-treaters are aware.
☑️ Set up luminaries equidistant across walkway and avoid use of candles, which could be a fire hazard. Instead, use battery-powered LED’s inside.

Entrepreneur finds passion and profits under man-made moonlight

This month marks 5 years since our owner, Patrick Harders, and his business were profiled in the Washington Post.

If you had told him as a kid, that he would make a career out of illuminating landscapes and homes, and designing/manufacturing light fixtures, Patrick probably would have given you a weird look and asked about his dream about becoming President of the United States.

Well, he chose a career path that did NOT involve politics, but did involve electrifying work! And he didn't discover his passion for lighting until working a part-time job during college. ⚡️💡
