Happy Saturday, neighbors!
If you’ve stepped outside today, you already know the vibe: it is officially that time of year where Florida feels like the inside of a boiling crockpot, and the weather forecast is basically just a shrug emoji. You get a text warning you about a torrential downpour, look out the window to see blinding sunshine, and then BAM!! five minutes later it’s a tropical monsoon while the sun is still shining.
All that crazy heat and unpredictable rain can really throw your lawn for a loop. One minute it’s parched, and the next it’s practically under water!
Since it’s the weekend and a lot of us are tackling yard work between the rain clouds, here is a quick, super easy tip to keep your grass happy through the summer chaos:
Raise your mower blades! 🚜👇
When the heat cranks up, it’s tempting to cut the grass short so you don't have to mow as often in the humidity. But letting your grass grow just a little bit taller (around 3.5 to 4 inches for our classic Florida St. Augustine or Bahia grass) actually works like a natural sunblock.
- It shades the soil, which keeps the roots cooler.
- It slows down water evaporation so your yard stays hydrated between those random dry spells.
- Taller, thicker grass is your absolute best defense against aggressive summer weeds trying to move in!
So next time you crank up the mower, click it up a notch or two. Your lawn will thank you!
What are your weekend plans? Venturing out into the heat, or staying inside where the AC is blasting? Whatever you’re up to, stay cool and have a wonderful Saturday!
P.S. If your summer schedule is already packed or you'd just rather leave the mowing to someone else while you stay in the AC, SunCat Property Solutions has always got your back. Drop us a message anytime we're always happy to help take care of your little slice of Florida paradise!
