In the new behavioral health inpatient unit for SSM Health - St. Louis, thoughtful design plays an important role in supporting the healing process.

Interior Design Principal, Becky Egan, noted, “The goal was to provide a calming environment that promotes healing while maintaining safety for both patients and staff.”

Behavioral health environments have historically leaned heavily clinical, often prioritizing function over comfort. This project challenged that approach by designing spaces that feel warm, grounded, and restorative while still meeting rigorous safety standards.

Design can’t solve every challenge in healthcare, but it can create environments that foster dignity and comfort throughout the healing journey.

At the base of the iconic Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco, Café Sebastian was designed as a layered hospitality experience that feels both refined and approachable.

In partnership with KKD Design, Lawrence Group designed this restaurant for the James Beard-recognized Chef Bradley Kilgore. The space brings together the energy of an open kitchen with the warmth of a garden-inspired loggia environment.

Earthy materials, eclectic furnishings, and industrial warehouse influences work together to create a setting that feels textured, inviting, and distinctly rooted in its urban context.

Occupying the ground floor of the Transamerica 3 building and extending onto historic Mark Twain Alley and Sansome Street, the design emphasizes connection between indoors and outdoors.

As we wrap up World Landscape Architecture Month, Lawrence Group is celebrating how thoughtful landscape design shapes the way people experience, move through, and enjoy outdoor spaces.

At the Maritz campus in Fenton, MO, the 1385 Plaza turns a simple connection between buildings into an inviting place to take a break, enjoy nature, host events, or recharge.

Thoughtful design, careful wayfinding, and native plantings also allow the plaza to manage stormwater effectively, showing how every detail can balance purpose, productivity, and sustainability.

Ama by Chef Brad Kilgore is one of the three concepts at the Transamerica Pyramid, San Francisco. Spanning the ground floor of Transamerica 3, the project introduces a bar-led hospitality experience blending 1970s-inspired design with modern restraint.

Anchored by the Copper Room’s signature bar and complemented by the hidden Social Club, the spaces offer distinct yet connected environments that transition from refined dining to late-night gathering, emphasizing atmosphere, material richness, and meaningful social interaction.

Lawrence Group was recognized at the 2026 Architect & Designer Awards by St. Louis Magazine, earning honors in the Commercial Space category for the One Foundry Way project 🎉

One Foundry Way at City Foundry STL is the first market-rate high-rise apartment in Midtown in nearly 50 years. The mixed-use development features luxury residences, structured parking, and street-level retail. Two offset glass masses house the apartment units, creating a playful relationship between the amenity decks and building structure, and offering 360-degree views of the surrounding metro St. Louis area.

This week of World Landscape Architecture Month, Lawrence Group highlights the designer behind the work. Jordan Wilkinson, PLA, ASLA's path into landscape architecture was shaped by a connection to nature and a passion for design.

Growing up, Jordan loves going to fish, hunt and explore the outdoors with his grandpa, instilling his love and curiosity of all things nature. As he continues to build his interest in architecture, Jordan found to a way to combine his interests into a career as a Landscape Architect.

Today, his work spans from big-picture site planning to detailed design elements, always focused on creating spaces that perform and connect people to their environment.
