After 23 years in the corporate world, I thought I knew what success looked like. Turns out, I was completely wrong.
I'm Lonnie Colvin, and I started PowerTrip Enterprises LLC here in North Louisiana because I was tired of missing my kids' lives for someone else's dream. Now my son and I run this electrical and HVAC business together, serving families from Minden to Springhill, Bossier City to Ruston, and everywhere in between.
I know how frustrating it is when contractors leave you hanging with zero communication. That's why I use Housecall Pro to send you a text when I'm on my way, complete with my photo and name. If anything changes, you get another quick update. Nobody should be left wondering what's happening with their home.
Last month, a family called me about their AC. Another company had already told them they needed a brand new compressor on their older unit. Thousands of dollars they simply didn't have. Their daughter had been in the hospital for weeks, and they were already drowning in medical bills.
I walked into that sweltering house and could see the stress written all over their faces. Instead of automatically agreeing with the previous diagnosis, I took my time checking everything. Tested the pressures. Looked at the electrical connections.
Then I installed a hard start kit and fired up that old unit. It kicked on like a champ and has been running strong ever since. The relief in that mom's eyes when cool air started flowing again? That's exactly why I left corporate life behind.
Most Saturdays you'll find me up early with my boys, cooking breakfast before we head outside. We ride four wheelers and bikes around our property, work with wood, and tinker with our 5 vehicles. I'll admit, starting this business has cut into our fishing and hunting time the past couple years, but it's worth it.
Sundays are sacred family time now. No work calls. Sometimes the wife and I catch up on our favorite shows, and sometimes we head to our local bakery for those incredible donuts, cinnamon twists, apple fritters, and kolaches they're famous for.
Also, I am on a mission to find the best BBQ in Minden. Any suggestions?
