It’s HOT out there — and if your AC isn’t keeping up, it doesn’t always mean it’s time for a new unit. Here are a few quick things you can check!

✅ Air Filter – A dirty filter can block airflow and make your unit work harder. Swap it out every 1–3 months in peak season.
✅ Thermostat Settings – Make sure it’s set to cool and on auto, not fan.
✅ Outdoor Unit – Check for debris, grass, or plants blocking airflow around the condenser.
✅ Vents & Registers – Keep them open and unblocked by furniture or rugs.
✅ Windows & Doors – Close blinds during the hottest part of the day and check for drafts.

4 FALL HVAC MAINTENANCE TIPS

Regular HVAC maintenance in the fall is crucial to ensure your system is running well. To get the most from your heating and cooling system, remember to perform these tasks this autumn. It's also recommended to have an HVAC professional clean and service your system(s) twice annually.

🍁Keep the Vents Clean🍁
Dust and debris can build up in your HVAC unit during the summer. When fall comes around, it's important to check all your HVAC vents for any dust or debris. This type of HVAC maintenance is important since even 1/100th of an inch of dust buildup on your coil and blower motor can equal up to 10 percent loss of efficiency!

🍁Clean Your Outdoor Unit🍁
The beautiful falling leaves during autumn may be pretty, but they can also be hazardous for your HVAC. These leaves can get lodged your outdoor unit. Pollen, dust, dirt, and twigs may also accumulate. Keeping your outdoor unit free of debris will almost certainly save you repair costs in the long run.

🍁Prevent any Clogging or Buildup in the Condensate Drain Line🍁
A clog in the condensate drain line can be particularly bad for your heating and cooling system. If you know how to access your condensate drain line, you can pour a solution of bleach and water through the line to help prevent clogs from forming. However, if you are concerned that you may already have a block in the condensate drain line, contact an HVAC professional for a service appointment. Again, regular professional maintenance will usually prevent these drains from clogging.
