This drive is at a jobsite where we are currently doing other work on the property. It had a large depression behind the tractor (yellow circle) and took nearly 2 cubic yards of base material to fill. The last picture clearly shows why this material makes such a good base because it packs so tightly together. Once all the projects are complete, the drive will be topped with 3/4” material.

Bigger is not always better. Access to this drive was so tight, we could get the 12’ trailer onto the property but not the 16’ trailer. This drive is also a perfect example of why you always grade to a solid base. Much of the gravel drive was extremely thin and a new sewer line had recently been replaced. The decision was made to use a 1” road base which is easy to grade and packs tightly. Rather than crowning the drive, we sloped the entire drive to one side and topped it with two loads of 3/4”.

This drive was over 300’ long and in need of some serious attention. It had deep ruts from years of use and erosion. We graded the drive to a solid base prior to laying any gravel to remove the ruts, establish a slight crown and to provide a surface that would allow the new gravel to bond with the base material. We maintained the crown in the drive as we layed the new material, as well. The tenant was thrilled with the drive and very appreciative of our professionalism.

Not all jobs can or should be done with a machine. We removed about a cubic yard of overburden by hand to install two new risers on the septic tank for our client. After backfilling with some amended soil, the lids will be slightly above grade and easily accessible. We also did a little tree work while at the jobsite so the limbs went to the Springfield Yardwaste Recycle Center and the spoils went to a clean fill site. We really don’t care what we haul or how dirty we get... we only care about our client and the job is done right.

We removed approximately 8 yards of topsoil for a client that previously lived on this property. That means we have two clients to satisfy. What you don’t see are large ruts or a mess on the new owner’s yard. It’s been raked out to match the existing grade, as well... because it is the right thing to do 😊

My client has an upcoming memorial service for children and the staff was afraid the work on the garden wasn’t going to be ready. She told a fellow parishioner, “I know an angel who can possibly help us out.” When it’s something so important, we will get it done! Thank you for thinking of Springfield Rock & Roll again 😊
