Thermal performance doesn’t stop with what’s inside the walls.
We’re continuing our look behind the scenes of this European-inspired Performance Home in Middle Tennessee with Principle 3: Thermal Performance — Part 2, Windows and Doors.
Windows and doors are openings in the building envelope, which means what we choose - and how those openings are detailed - can make a big difference in how the home performs.
For this Performance Home, we’re using triple-pane European tilt + turn windows with Low-E glass, argon-filled spaces and multi-point locking systems. Together, those features help reduce heat transfer and air leakage while improving comfort and even reducing outside noise.
And there’s a practical side to the European tilt + turn design: the windows can tilt inward from the top for controlled ventilation or swing fully inward for greater airflow and easy cleaning.
It’s another example of how high-performance construction is less about one product or feature and more about how every part of the home works together.

Because performance isn’t an upgrade. It’s how the home is built.
