Over the last week, I was afforded the opportunity to create and install a beautiful hardwood floor-all with wood from our managed forest. I truly appreciate the opportunity to put functional art into homes!

This big Red Oak has been starting to lean for a few years now-so much so that it was starting to heave up a good section of our logging trail, so it was time to harvest it before it came down in a storm-which would destroy a section of trail and a unknown number of neighboring trees. After deer hunting season, we decided to place a camera in a position to overlook a cleaned deer carcass-we return what we do not use back to Nature, and nothing goes to waste. Bald Eagles, Red Tailed Hawks, and Crows (not pictured) have made use of the leftovers. We are hoping for pictures of Coyotes! More wildlife pictures to come!

Well.... the camera kids are NOT steady. But they were excited to be there, so I guess extra wiggles are to be expected.

This large Red Oak is dead, and has been marked for harvest. We've already identified some beautiful products to be made.

The boys are safe, and move behind a large, frozen root ball for protection-you'll see me tell them when to move in to the crater.
