Gladiolus volunteer. Years ago my dad gave me a box of daffodil bulbs. Along with it was one Glad bulb. Since they are not hardy in my zone I used to plant it in the Spring with my dahlia and canna tubers and then dig them up and store them in the winter. I forgot about this one and it stayed in the ground in a protected area of our yard. I was surprised to see it not only came back, it multiplied!

On March 9th, while still dormant, I drastically cut back this GIANT barberry bush. I took it down to about 18”. It has bounced back and is petite and shapely (now mid-July). I also added the Hamln grasses and salvia to this area. Previously there was a diseased rose bush and Hardy geranium.

*I don’t like posting pictures of me on here, but thought it would be helpful for scale.
