General Laborer – Deck Construction
Pay: $15–$20/hour, depending on experience
Position Type: 1099 Contractor
Schedule: Monday–Friday, typically 9:00 AM–4:00/5:00 PM
Location: Typically Brighton, South Lyon, Howell and surrounding areas
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking General Laborer to join our deck construction team. This position will assist with the construction and installation of residential decks, railings, stairs, pergolas, and other outdoor structures.
Responsibilities
* Assist with building and installing wood and composite decks
* Load, unload, and move building materials
* Measure, cut, and assemble materials as directed
* Operate common construction hand and power tools
* Assist with framing, decking, railings, stairs, and other deck components
* Maintain a clean and organized job site
* Follow instructions and work safely as part of a crew
* Perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday
Requirements
* Must be 18 years of age or older
* General knowledge of construction and basic building practices
* Ability to safely operate common hand and power tools
* Ability to read a tape measure and take accurate measurements
* Ability to follow directions and work independently when needed
* Must be dependable, punctual, and willing to learn
* Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
* Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs
* Ability to stand and work for extended periods on uneven terrain
* Must be comfortable walking and working on deck joists and unfinished deck platforms
* Ability to safely work from ladders and at various heights
* Previous deck construction or carpentry experience is a plus
* Must have reliable transportation and your own vehicle
* Must be able to drive yourself to the job site each day
Tools
* Applicants are required to have their own basic hand tools and tool pouches
* Personal drill/impact driver is not required, but is a plus
* All saws and larger job-site power tools are provided by the company
* Applicants are expected to maintain and take care of their personal tools
Schedule
* Monday–Friday
* Typically 9:00 AM–4:00/5:00 PM
* Job-site locations may vary from day to day
* Reliable attendance and punctuality are required
Compensation & Position Type
* $15–$20 per hour, based on construction experience, skill level, and ability to perform the job independently
* 1099 contractor position
* No experience in deck construction is required for the right applicant, but a general construction background is strongly preferred
