Frontline Dive & Recovery Veteran-owned dive instruction and underwater recovery team serving South-Central KY. Precision-driven. Mission-ready. Below the surface when it matters most.

We specialize in underwater services from boat cleaning to item recovery, we got you covered. Frontline Dive & Recovery is a veteran-owned scuba training and underwater service company serving Lake Cumberland and South-Central Kentucky. Scuba training is a major part of what we do. We provide professional recreational dive instruction for new divers as well as continuing education for divers looking to expand their skills, experience, and certifications. Our approach to training emphasizes competence, confidence, safety, and actually preparing divers to use what they learn after the class is over. Beyond training, Frontline provides lost-property recovery and specialized underwater services, with capabilities including vessel recovery, dock and marine structure work, underwater inspections, maintenance, and repairs as project requirements and operational resources allow. Regardless of the job, our philosophy is simple: do it right, charge a fair price, communicate honestly, and earn the customer's trust. We believe customers should know who they're dealing with, understand what they're paying for, and have confidence that the work will be completed professionally. That means dependable service, honest communication, quality workmanship, and showing up when we say we will. Our goal isn't to make one job last longer — it's to make the relationship last longer. We want Frontline to become the name people around Lake Cumberland trust when they need scuba training, underwater recovery, or help solving a problem below the surface. If a job requires capabilities beyond ours, we'll help connect the right people and resources rather than pretending otherwise. Trust isn't something we expect because our name is on the truck. We intend to earn it, one student and one job at a time. Frontline Dive & Recovery

🤿 Looking for something beyond the basic dive certifications?

At Frontline Dive & Recovery, we don’t just offer Open Water, Advanced Adventurer, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster training. We also offer a growing selection of SDI specialty courses designed to help you become a more capable, confident, and well-rounded diver.

Maybe you want to dial in your buoyancy. Maybe you’re ready to start going deeper, learn search and recovery, improve your navigation, try a full-face mask, dive at night, or finally make the jump to a dry suit.

Whatever direction you want to take your diving, there’s probably a specialty that can help get you there.

🌊 Most of our specialty courses are pretty easy to work into your schedule. Many involve eLearning followed by a day in the water completing two dives. Specific requirements vary by specialty.

📍 And we aren't tied to one training location. Depending on the course and what you're looking for, we can train locally or put together trips to places like Pennyroyal, Gray Quarry, Louisville-area dive sites, Florida, and beyond.

💰 Pricing varies by specialty and location.

Whether your goal is to build a particular skill, become a better overall diver, prepare for more advanced training, or just have an excuse to get underwater and try something new—we can build the training around where you want to go next.

⚓ More Than Just a Hull Cleaning 🤿

We recently completed an underwater hull and running gear cleaning on a 32' Sea Ray at Lake Cumberland.

This one came with some pretty substantial growth, and two divers spent approximately 4½ hours underwater getting the hull and running gear cleaned up.

But cleaning was only part of the job.

While we're underwater, we're also paying attention to what we're seeing and feeling. During this job, we documented several items we felt the owner needed to know about, including:

🔹 Areas of abrasion and wear through the textured bottom coating
🔹 Significant pitting and material loss on the sacrificial anodes
🔹 Approximately ¼" of lateral movement in the port rudder that was not present in the starboard rudder
🔹 The overall condition of the hull and underwater running gear following cleaning

📸 We documented the job with before, during, and after photographs and provided the owner with a detailed underwater service report that he can share with his marine surveyor.

We're divers — not marine surveyors — and we stay within that lane. But if we see something underwater that deserves a closer look, we're going to document it and make sure the owner knows about it.

That's the level of service we're working to provide every time we get in the water.

🔧 ANOTHER SERVICE ADDED AT FRONTLINE! 🤿

We’re excited to announce that Frontline Dive & Recovery now offers professional visual cylinder inspections!

Nicholas has officially completed the PSI-PCI Professional Scuba Inspectors / Professional Cylinder Inspectors Visual Cylinder Inspector training program and is now a trained PSI-PCI Visual Cylinder Inspector.

We’ve invested in the proper inspection equipment, tools, training, procedures, and insurance to provide this service professionally and safely.

And this isn’t limited to scuba tanks!

Our visual inspection services are available for applicable high-pressure cylinders, including:

🟡 SCUBA cylinders
🔵 Fire department & public-safety SCBA cylinders
🟢 Other applicable steel, aluminum, and composite high-pressure cylinders

Cylinder requirements vary depending on construction, specification, and intended service, so each cylinder will be evaluated individually to determine the appropriate inspection requirements.

Oxygen-service cleaning is not currently offered, but it is another capability we plan to add as we continue expanding our cylinder services.

Whether you’re an individual diver, dive professional, fire department, rescue agency, or other organization maintaining high-pressure cylinders, Frontline is ready to help.

Busy day on Lake Cumberland yesterday for Frontline Dive & Recovery!

We started at Conley Bottom searching for a lost propeller for a repeat customer we had helped several months ago. Unfortunately, we weren't successful on the first attempt, but we'll be making a return trip to give it another shot.

We believe in sharing our failures along with our successes. We're not perfect, but we'll be transparent, professional, show up when we say we will, and we don't tend to give up easily.

Our second call took us to State Dock for a phone sitting in approximately 125 feet of water. Lake Cumberland is normally pretty murky, but once we dropped below about 110 feet, the water was surprisingly crystal clear with visibility approaching 20 feet. Water temperature, however, dropped into the upper 40s.

At that depth, we only had about a 10-minute window to work before reaching our no-decompression limit. Thankfully, the phone was located and recovered, and I was already heading back up within about six minutes.

The family was extremely happy to have it back, and before we left State Dock, the job had already generated another referral.

A repeat customer in the morning and a new referral that afternoon. That's exactly how we want Frontline to grow — one job, one customer, and one recommendation at a time.

And yes... I forgot to take pictures again, so here is one of my dive computer. 😂

This one was a little bit of a full-circle day for me.

I graduated from the Somerset Community College EMS Programs several years ago, later had the opportunity to come back as an instructor, and today I still get to work with their students as a paramedic and preceptor at Somerset-Pulaski County EMS.

Every year, the Paramedic Program teams up with Somerset Pulaski County Rescue Squad for a lake day. The students get a chance to get out of the classroom and see what a water-rescue operation actually looks like. Rescue Squad divers locate and recover a submerged patient, then hand that patient off to the paramedic students on the boat. From there, they have to manage a simulated drowning/cardiac arrest while working in the cramped and moving environment of a rescue boat before continuing care back on shore.

It's one of those training days that brings several different pieces of emergency services together and gives students an experience that's pretty hard to recreate in a classroom.

This year I got to wear a couple different hats. I was there with the Rescue Squad as one of our divers, but Frontline Dive & Recovery was also invited to stick around afterward and give interested students an opportunity to try scuba through a Discover Scuba experience.

Some may decide diving isn't for them. Some may decide they want to get certified recreationally. And hopefully a few eventually decide they want to take that training even further and become part of a public-safety dive team.

That's really one of the reasons I've enjoyed building Frontline. Diving can be a hobby, a profession, a way to serve your community, or all three.

Thanks to Somerset Community College and Somerset-Pulaski County Rescue Squad for continuing to put this together every year, and thanks to the students who were willing to get out of their comfort zone and give diving a try.

Maybe we'll see a few of you underwater again soon. 🤿

🤿 TWO MORE DIVERS JOIN THE FAMILY! 🤿

Congratulations to Frontline Dive & Recovery’s two newest Open Water Scuba Divers — Robbie Blevins and Betty Sellers!

After completing their eLearning, confined-water training, and open-water dives over the last couple of weeks, they’ve officially earned their certification and are ready to start exploring a part of the world most people will never get to experience.

They say less than 1% of the world’s population is scuba certified. Whether the exact number is 1% or a little more, it’s still a pretty small club — and Robbie and Betty are officially part of it.

But certification is really just the beginning.

Go dive. Take trips. See new places. Dive somewhere you've never been. Keep training. Add specialties. Improve your skills. Learn from other divers. Get your friends and family involved. And most importantly, never stop learning.

Scuba can be a hobby, an adventure, a reason to travel, or something the entire family can enjoy together. Some of the best memories happen when everybody puts the phones away, puts on their gear, and disappears below the surface for a while.

Robbie and Betty — congratulations, and welcome to the underwater world! We hope this is only the first certification of many. 🤿

And yes... I managed to forget my camera this weekend, so unfortunately these are about the best graduation pictures we have. 😂 Apparently remembering all the dive gear was more important.

Interested in becoming a certified diver yourself? Send Frontline Dive & Recovery a message. We'd love to get you underwater.
