Is anyone interested in Spanish Lavender cuttings? They can be rooted or dried. I am asking $2 for a bundle.

I spent the afternoon making sugar free muscadine/ strawberry jam. I used monk fruit with Allulose. It takes a little longer to set up and has to stay at room temp for 24-48 hours before putting in the fridge. Most of the jars sealed so they can go on shelf for up to a year but the small ones that didn’t seal well can go in the freezer. I did sample some on an english muffin and it has a good flavor. I just hope it sets correctly since this is my first time making jam. Never mind the names of some jars. I had to reuse a few that I had from storing dried herbs and seeds.

Collecting muscadines for jelly. They are growing up in the tree so the metal rake is going to be used to pull the vines lower and then I should be able to reach them with a ladder. I normally just pick some off the fence line and snack on the juice.

Do you have muscadines or jelly making stories to share?

I am cleaning up the bearded iris bed this week and will have some to trade for some different plants and seeds. This is what they look like in the spring. I can put them on my porch for pickup.

Butterflies and bees love the lantana, red salvia, and cone flowers in my full sun garden. I have small water trays with rocks for them to stay hydrated multiple places around the flowers. What attracts pollinators in your yard?

Today I am putting up green beans from the garden. I collect them through the week and put them in a half gallon freezer bag with paper towels in the bottom and sides to help absorb moisture. I usually store them for up to two weeks fresh for either cooking or freezing. It gives me time to collect as much as I can and then I process them all at the same time to freeze. Of course we still have them through the week to eat. The half gallon feeds a family of four. You can blanche the beans or not. I usually just wash, dry, and freeze.

What are you harvesting and how do you like to store it?

Welcome to the Mile Straight Neighborhood and Soddy Daisy Area Gardening Group! I wanted to start this page to have a place for our community to see each other’s plant pics, ask gardening questions, and eventually expand out of FB and get outside together. Posts and comments can be about veggie gardens, potted plants, flower beds, greenhouses, or anything gardening related.
Future goals:
1. Start a seed and plant day for us to share with each other.
2. Organize a monthly class.
3. Highlight our neighborhood gardens.
4. Visit local nurseries and garden centers.
5. Create a community garden (fingers crossed).
