I'm so pleased with the mix of modern (linear pavers and steel retaining) with classic (Craftsman architecture) in this landscape design. But most of all I'm thrilled with the attention to detail and craftsmanship by Orionrockscapes. We had some tricky issues to navigate - preserving the roots of both the Japanese maple and River birch, uneven ground and a downspout with an outlet in the middle of the driveway. They handled it all with precision. They even successfully tanspanted the exisitng mature daphne!

My favorite summertime ritual in the garden... Waking up before anyone else, grabbing my book and coffee and sitting on the sofa in the back garden - watching the sun rise through the hornbeams. My garden isn't fancy, but it brings me joy. I know these days are numbered until next May or June. The temps are bit cooler and the plants dusted with dew... but the light is just right. Enjoy the day everyone.

When a client has style and pizzazz for days and makes the space you helped create jump to life with warmth and energy. Honestly, this is what we live for as landscape designers - when we get to see how the homeowners have maximized their garden and are fully enjoying it. It makes me so happy! New patio, trellis, BBQ structure, paths and planting. We made sure to keep space for his awesome vegetable garden, but also tucked a little seating area in so they could look back at the garden and house with their morning coffee. Not a surprise... these were dream clients I'm thankful to have met. So fun!

In the works! A new entry experience - stairs, patio, 'L' shaped privacy panel in the front. In the back - new patio, overhead structure, soon to be steel planters and screens for vines.

A new arbor frames the entry while a dry streambed and flagstone detail cut across the path and front garden.

A brand new back garden ready for a sofa and fire pit / coffee table. A mix of new concrete entry and patio with paver details to delineate the spaces. The pot with a Tiger Eye sumac acts as both a welcome and screen. Scroll through to see the before image. An uneven patio made from broken concrete and a giant leyland hedge that made the space feel cramped an dark. We reused the basalt dish rock and added lighting.

A fun idea that took hold. I'm always thankful for clients that are willing to have a bit of fun.
Ceramic blue glazed fish add movement and color next to the dry streambed. A mix of grasses and ferns add texture.
