This was officially the BIGGEST project Bear Claw Services has tackled yet, and apparently the admission price included several bonus challenges nobody ordered.
First problem: There was a hydrant exactly where the building needed to go.
So, we dug that sucker up and relocated it.
Then came the heat.
Not regular summer heat.
The kind of heat where you touch a piece of metal and immediately reconsider every decision you’ve made since childhood.
Then Wyoming brought in its favorite employee:
THE WIND.
Because nothing says “productive workday” quite like grown adults wrestling a giant piece of sheet metal that has suddenly discovered it can FLY.
At some point you’re no longer constructing a building... You’re just trying not to accidentally parasail into Montana!
Then there were the sheet metal screws.....
The lumber yard said 500 should do it. Apparently, math works differently at the lumberyard.
We ran out of sheet screws faster than beer at a redneck wedding.
Needed another 750 more.
Whoever thought 500 would be the right amount was smoking something and they weren't sharing.
And of course, we had lumber.
Beautiful. Straight. Fresh lumber.
We admired it. It was a sight to behold.
We came back the next day, and the boards had apparently decided it wanted careers as a rocking chairs!
Straight yesterday.
Letter U today.
Fantastic. Here we go.
But here's the best part...
We have an overhead power line to deal with...
Oh, cool.
POWER LINE.
Not way up there where power lines belong.
Nope.
This bad boy was roughly SIX INCHES from the top of the building we were constructing.
Because apparently this project needed a BONUS ROUND.
So now we're building a giant lean-to while carefully working around an overhead power line close enough to make everybody suddenly VERY interested in workplace safety.
“Watch the power line!” was the unofficial mantra of the entire project.
Because nothing adds a little pep to your step quite like electricity six inches away. 😂
BUT....WE GOT IT DONE!!
And it turned out AWESOME!!
The new lean-to matches the existing building beautifully, the customer loves it, and it is going to work perfectly for what she needs.
Another one officially in the books for Bear Claw Services LLC.
