April is National Safe Digging Month.
Contacting 811 before you dig is EASY.
1. Call 811 or go online to get a ticket THREE DAYS before you plan to start with the address or general location of your project, when you plan to start, and how much dirt you’ll be digging.
2. Make sure you dig parallel with the utility line and be careful when you’re removing the soil.
3. Use small hand tools when digging within 24” of the line.
4. Keep your eyes peeled for signs of a natural gas leak. If you smell rotten eggs, hear a hissing or roaring sound, it’s likely a leak.
