Check that:
🔹 Downspouts discharge away from the drain field
🔹 Gutters are clear and draining properly
🔹 Sump-pump water is directed away from the system
🔹 Yard grading does not create standing water
🔹 Vehicles remain off wet drain-field soil

A drain field needs unsaturated soil to absorb and treat wastewater. When surface water repeatedly collects over it, the system may struggle to handle normal household use.

If water regularly pools near your tank or drain field, address the drainage issue before it contributes to slow drains, odors, or surfacing wastewater.
