🌼 Calendula has easily been one of my favorite flowers in the garden this year for multiple reasons!

Every morning it greets the sun by opening its cheerful blooms, then closes itself up again each evening. It’s one of those little garden rituals that never gets old.

Calendula is also an incredible companion plant. Tuck it throughout your garden and it’ll attract all kinds of beneficial insects. Last week I found minute pirate bugs on mine—one of the garden’s top predators when it comes to keeping pest populations in check. I have a love-hate relationship with them…they’re amazing for protecting my plants, but they’re also notorious for giving painful little bites in the fall. 😅

This cool-season flower is happiest in temperatures between 60–80°F and actually prefers spring and fall over the heat of summer. Even better, it’ll keep blooming through light frosts and can tolerate temperatures down to about 25°F.

To keep the blooms coming, harvest or deadhead often. If you’re drying the flowers for teas, salves, or other uses, dehydrate them for at least 72 hours at around 100°F, or simply let them air dry for a few weeks until they’re completely dry.

I think every garden deserves a little patch of calendula. I know I’ll be planting more than 2 plants next year 🌼💛

I think I just found my new favorite plant destination! 🌿💚

This is hands down the most amazing plant nursery I’ve ever visited, and it’s right here in Omaha, Nebraska! From the gorgeous nursery and greenhouse to the garden center and home décor, every corner is packed with inspiration. I could have wandered around for hours.

Somehow I managed to show a little self-control and left with just one plant. 😂 But I’d never seen anything like it before, so there was absolutely no way I was leaving without it.

If you’re a fellow plant lover, Lanoha Nursery is definitely worth the trip! 🌱✨

Ever look at herbs and think… okay, but what do I actually DO with them? 😂. I started dehydrating flowers this year to make medicinal salves, teas etc. not idea what I’m doing but I’m going try a couple of things.

Tea, tincture, infused oil, salve—it may sound complicated at first, but many herbal preparations are much simpler than you think.

🌿 Start small, learn one method at a time, and label everything. Trust me on that last one. 🤣

Sage is a favorite herb among gardeners, home DIYers, and home cooks alike. Not only is it an incredibly easy herb to grow, thriving in the worst of conditions, but it also has so many
