For those who don’t know what Poison Ivy, Poison, Oak, Poison Sumac, look like here are photos of each.

85 - 90% of people are allergic these 3 plants due to the oily resin (urushiol) found in each plant.

Snow isn’t the enemy — it’s insulation.

Air temp: 10°F

Under 6" of snow: 25°F
Snow keeps roots, shrubs, bulbs, strawberries, roses, evergreens alive.

REMOVE snow ONLY from:

✓ Walkways
✓ Roofs
✓ Evergreens (to prevent breakage)

LEAVE snow on:

✓ Shrubs
✓ Perennial beds
✓ Lawns
✓ Veggie beds

Plants are dormant — they don’t need sunlight.
They need insulation from freezing air and wind.

Let the snow work for you.
It’s the warmest blanket your garden gets all winter.

🌿 Correct Way to Prune 🌿

1️⃣ Cut at a 45° angle just above the bud to promote healthy new growth.
2️⃣ Avoid cutting too steeply — it exposes the branch to drying and disease.
3️⃣ Don’t cut too close to the bud, as it can damage it and prevent healing.
4️⃣ Don’t leave too much wood above the bud — it slows healing and attracts pests.

🌱 A clean, precise cut ensures strong, balanced, and vigorous growth. 🍃

How to maintain a healthy tree.
Always perform a 3 step cut - Cut out away from the branch collar to relieve weight and pressure from the limb. Start with an undercut and move to a top cut, finish cutting the remainder of the limb just before the branch collar, be careful not to cut the collar. It is recommended to use a hand saw or hand pruners as using a chain saw can tear the wood fibers.
